Ricoh Asia Pacific – Eco Action Day Campaign & Roundtable


On 2 April, RA launched its 13th annual Eco Action Day campaign in Singapore and invited organizations, schools and individuals to be part of the advocacy by pledging green actions for an eco-friendlier Singapore @ www.ecoaction.sg.This year’s campaign will tackle Goal 13 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which urges people to take urgent action to combat climate change. Each pledge will be included into the Climate Action Pledges by the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR). RA will also match the carbon savings from pledges made by each organisation and school with the same amount of natural gas carbon credits generated from an electricity plant in Singapore.

On 30 May, RA brought together Government leaders and industry experts to address topics on sustainable waste management and recycling via a circular economy and come up with solutions and actions to advance Sustainable Development Goal 13, Climate Action.

On 23 July, RA kick starts a new initiative as part of the campaign to distribute gardening seeds to local communities and international schools to plant and harvest their own fruits and vegetables in a bid to cultivate sustainable production and consumption. Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and Health grace a tree planting ceremony organised by RA. RA also donated a chengai wood arbor and a bench made from used toner cartridges to enhancing support to one of the tertiary campuses.

Global Eco Action Special Editorial

On May 31, RA brought together Government, senior business, and academic leaders to examine how the full potential of sustainable industrialization and infrastructure development will contribute to Singapore’s greener future during the 12th edition of the annual Eco Action Day campaign.

This year, 313 organisations, 17 schools and 1225 individuals have pledged positive actions for the environment in Singapore. In order to reach out to a wider public , here are some public engagement conducted this year.

Entitled “Industry Innovation in the Year of Climate Action,” this year’s Eco Action Day Industry Roundtable focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 9: to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation.

Eco Action Day 2018 celebration

As part of the Eco Action Day 2018 celebration organised in conjunction with World Environment Day, RA also hosted the Eco Action Day CSR Workshop: Building & Implementing a Sustainability Strategy. The workshop discussed topics surrounding circular economy, materiality and creating shared value. Practical case studies were also used to demonstrate ways to build on a strategic framework, covering implementation plans and how to get employee buy-in through “champions’.

To celebrate the milestone 10th Eco Action Day in Singapore, Ricoh Asia Pacific convened a panel discussion themed "From Agreement to Action: Singapore's Climate Pledge" on June 3.

The event brought together government, business, and civil society leaders to share their thoughts on Singapore’s journey towards achieving its climate change targets.
